The unit is a 1500 watt power inverter, with a 12 volt dc input. This inverter charger has a built in transfer switch which allows you to plug this inverter into a regular ac outlet in your home, when the power goes out, this power inverter automatically switches to run off of your battery bank. The charger which is built into this power inverter outputs 10 dc amps of regulated charge to keep your batteries full, so when the power goes out they are ready to supply power to this back up power inverter.
